Fugue Magical StructureLore - Magic Canon
Fugues, sometimes called Weave networks, were networks of three or more objects in the Weave. They could transport energy from an entity of great power to a lesser spellcaster, offer troves of knowledge to users, and transport information between various users.
Structure
For a fugue to work, it had to connect multiple objects in the Weave. These were most commonly souls of people and supernatural entities, but could also include physical objects such as magical items drawing power from another location.
Uses
Holy Fugue. The most common way a fugue was used was as the means for deities to gather power. After the Dictation, all gods had to limit their power by their number of loyal followers - thus, the number of people actively connected to their fugue was a measure of how much energy they could draw from the Weave. In exchange, deities (or pantheons) supplied their followers with ideas, knowledge, and sometimes magical power.
Planar Fugues. Many planes had fugues of their own; a famous example was the Feywild. These were tied by geography and could usually not be accessed from outside. Often, they directly affected people that visited the plane in minor ways, such as affecting mood or producing minor physical changes.
Power. Most surviving primordials were imprisoned in the material world. These creatures had huge primal amounts of power, which others could draw from. Thus, many primordial fugues served as a source of energy for proximate people drawing power from them.
Knowledge / Information. It was possible to transmit knowledge and other thought patterns through the Weave. Thus, some fugues - notably holy ones - included ways for people Connected to it to gain access to these, or to communicate.
Known Fugues
Dragonlink
One of the most known fugues was the Dragonlink, also known as draconic magic. It Connected all dragons to one another, giving them access to notably dragon's breath and eased flight. During the Dragon War, this was taken profit of with dragoneaters, gems filled with a Dragonlink "vacuum" that absorbed the magic of creatures invested in it, weakening and killing them.
