Snathing, often just called Yuan-Ti Corruption, was the magical condition - sometimes called curse - that introduced snake-like parts into a humanoid's physiology.

Contracting the Condition

It was relatively difficult to get affected by the curse. The original faeling society that transformed into the yuan-ti engaged in a long series of rituals and deals with the serpent gods to introduce the corruption into their blood.

Afterwards, however, transmission was very simple: any mating including at least one affected individual resulted in a new snathed child.

Description

Snathed individuals often looked like usual members of their original race. Their physiology in most cases changed only superficially, such as by having small patches of scales, a more colored shade of skin tone, or slitted pupils.

One major change that affected all snathed females was that their wombs were modified to produce eggs, rather than give birth to live children. Mothers also did not produce any milk.

It was also possible to be much more affected by Snathing, to become malisons or even abominations. In these cases, large parts of the body - such as everything below the torso, the arms, or even the whole body - could feature snake instead of humanoid anatomy.
