Also named Lady Nature, Illrune was a chaotic goddess, one of wild tangles and beautiful clearings. She was also the patron deity of wood elves. Within the Silmarilus, she was the chaotic entity. When Callobar played his harp, she spawned a cacophony of animal shrieks. Whilst Sillalaulee rested, she created a thick cocoon of wood around her to imprison the deity as she stood up. To an elf, she was the one that created all nature, and she didn't do it in an orderly fashion. Often, she striked out with Thalloman Grass, her companion, to create nature and chaos.

The Woodland Grace was in every tree and every shrub. Forests were her organs, and from there she spread onwards to beautify the world. Lady Nature also represented the growth of new things upon old, such as a new king coming to rise over an elven society.

Worship

She was the god of nature and woodlands, of chaos and change. Any elven population living in woods worshipped her, since she was all around them. Members of larger states hoping for a change of the old order would give her offerings. Rangers or druids, elves patrolling wild woods, might choose the Woodland Grace as their guiding light.

A group of elves living in the woods traditionally grew a large tree in the center of their settlement, or otherwise placed an impressive natural presence to tower over them. It was their bond to Illrune, and the guiding beacon for Illrune should she choose to find them. It granted the people a healthy and safe life. Festivities were typically held around the epitome of nature.

Worshippers achieved communication with their goddess through intense meditation, often gaining discreet insights into the heartbeat of nature. She gifted knowledge of nature and the environment to those who prayed to her. The method of repeating mantras whilst awake also worked to hear Lady Nature.
