Ship TerminologyLore - Technology Canon

Oshmondian ships were first properly classified in 22'000 b. OW by Dwarven sages. There were three main categories: Light, Medium, and Heavy vessels. Afterwards, First-Class ships were added.

Construction Sites. Small fields located near villages, equipped with sheds and tools, were called ship-wharves. Fully devoted construction sites were naval arsenal.

Light Ships

Light ships required between 8 and 15 sailors.

Light Brig

Crew 8

These were small ships, often rudimentarily built in small wharves. They consisted of a hull, a mast, sometimes a rudder.

Marine

Crew 12, Marine Troopers 40

Marines, sometimes called marine assault ships, were designed to smash ashore and discharge troops also called marines. They were quite clunky and slow, but had very low depth and were effective at their main task.

Medium Ships

These required at least 16 sailors, were no longer than 40 meters, and were typically both used as trade ships and warships.

Battleship

Battleships were standard, small-size ship-to-ship warships. They could have anywhere between 16 and

  • 1st Generation. These were often very simply built and, aside from combat towers, could be easily repurposed as cargo vessels. In fact, they were often used in both ways.
  • 2nd Generation. These were purposely built, and first designed by the Dwarven Empire. They were unique in that they had an oar system for better maneuvering, and a battering ram at the front.

Battleships went out of use in civilized states in 70 OW, replaced by steamships.
