TeleportationLore - Magic Canon

It was possible to physically move between places using the Weave.

Short-Distance Travel

Within short distances (up to 200 meters), it was possible for spellcasters to arbitrarily choose a point in space and move to that by establishing a temporary Connection in the Weave. They would choose one object, or, if they were skilled enough, one spot in space, which would serve as a gem for a moment. They would be the gem on the other end.

Spellcasters needed considerable spacial understanding to pull this off, but the main limitation to the range was the difficulty of establishing Connections to arbitrary points, even for short periods of time. It was impossible to create a Connection over greater distances without the use of gems; however, it was possible for a spellcaster to focus on a gem they could see, whether in the Weave or outside, and teleport over greater distances by moving to that item.

Long-Distance Travel

Over longer distances, gems or an equivalent had to be used. Typically, these were called portals or circles. Connections transporting something other than energy were virtually impossible to make with standard gems; instead, they had to be crushed and otherwise processed to create larger surfaces that could take up and release matter. Creating a portal was immensely difficult, requiring a sizeable amount of gems but mainly incredible precision, as the large surfaces had to be perfectly attuned to the Weave, not profiting from the ease of weaving strands or the natural affinity of whole gems. Mortals creating portals was virtually unheard of, as people instead relied on a few relict portals to move between places.

There were three known portals in Bolmeranda, and two on Oshmondu: one in Zelina, in the Caverealm, and one on Silur. Additionally, there were the Circles of the interplanar Great Net[1], one of which was located in each plane.
