At its peak, the Ochebana Empire spanned over the entirety of Balebu and Intralu, as well as the southern islands Troller and Bachulu.
Military
The Ochebanian army was widely renowned. Although not very skillful and often not well equipped, it dominated in size and social prestige.
Foreign Relations
Ochebana was often at war with Denise, traded with distant Cuprien, and had tense relations with the Dwarven Empire.
The Ochebana Empire was a powerful military state that dominated the eastern scene.
Traits
Assets. The humans controlled Balebu, a large continent with good farmland. They had a large population who produced loads of food and a huge army to enforce imperial rule and further Ochebanian interests on the foreign scene. They weren't rich in metals, however, which had to be imported from outside.
Demography. Ochebana was founded by Archaen westerners, but the original settlers of Balebu quickly became the dominant bloodline, making the Eastern ethnicity the prominent racial group in the empire. Sarrasano humans were especially dominant in the south, where they emigrated from their homelands in the southern Troller and Bachulu islands. Other races, notably elves and gnomes, formed small minorities in society.
Education. The Ochebanian school system suffered a number of changes, but was most often in the hands of local nobles and did not have a standardized curriculum or high-quality education. The best schools were usually military academies or private tutorship for noble children.
History
The Ochebana Empire was founded in 620 b. OW by the Swordswinger Order from Weluche in central Balebu. It gradually conquered the entirety of Balebu, notably the Brimmer Kingdom, Undine, and Rownor.Swordswinger Order, 620 - 602 OW. A knightly order from Weluche founded a small settlement on Fork Lake. It was constituted mostly of knights, and their human and cling-clang slaves.
Londer's Empire, 602 - 522 b. OW. After King Arthur disappeared, his lieutenant Londer proclaimed himself emperor and established a more Balebian kingdom-like society.
Jonesdays, 522 - 520 b. OW. The empire was large, but the emperor had very little power and the rising nobility threatened to fracture the state into feudal dominions. In the Jonesdays, power was centralized, the infrastructure modernized, and a single code of law issued.
4th Empire, 453 - 394 b. OW. The huge empire was bogged down in constant fighting on its borders, and additionally suffered from a north-south religious divide. In the 4th Empire, tolerance between the two churches and a gradual reduction of warmongering were pursued.
Ochebanian Republic, 394 - 394 b. OW. Unhappy nobles assassinated the emperor in 354, leading to the institution of the Ochebanian Republic. It was marked by civil unrest and lasted 1 year.
5th Empire, 393 - 296 b. OW. Emperor Brimstone and his successors enforced ruthless martial law and state terror to strengthen the economy.
Rule of Order, 296 - 179 b. OW. Authoritarian state rule continued, surviving several revolutions. Terrestrialist Ochebana was internationally isolated.
Deltree Dynasty, 179 - 110 b. OW. The popular Colonel Deltree took power, reforming the state and opening its borders. He pursued an imperialist colonial policy.
6th Empire, 110 - 55 b. OW. Jeff Musket took power, gradually reverting Ochebanian society to its pre-Deltree form and provoking the Eternal War with the archipelago nations.
Dragon Empire, 55 b. OW - 62 OW. The Dragon Empire embraced draconic imagery and the military potential of dragons to fight its enemies; during the Orc Wars, the empire had fallen back all the way to the Venan Bastion, which encompassed only Troller Island and western Banulia.
Sun Empire, 62 - 227 OW. Inspired by communist ideas and a grand Ochebanian rebirth, the Sun Empire lived the communist utopia and saw Ochebana's greatest ever expansion.
Nationalist Rule, 227 - 228 OW. After decades of unrest, the nationalist reform faction took power. They were far from victory against the imperialists, however, and after a devastating civil war, the empire quickly collapsed.
