The First Starik Regiment was a unit in the Tokken, and later New Trensandor, army. It was the primary defensive force of Starik (the largest city on Mjnfar, on its western coast), and accordingly saw much action in the Ferdrskjisle, especially in the eastern Mjnfar Peninsula.
History
Starik, being very close to the vast front lines of the Tokken-Dwarven war, played a significant role in the military conflict. Its population had vast military experience in all fields; the First Starik Brigade was raised out of this force as a capable, but more importantly, numerous unit designed to form the bulk of a Legion's infantry core.
Under the Primary Starik Legion, the First Brigade saw intense fighting against the Dwarves and their numerous auxiliaries, including several campaigns in the Ferdrskjisle, some heroic battles in northern Balebu, one relief mission on Turlu and three on Intralu, and most significantly, numerous engagements on the eastern Mjnfar Peninsula, protecting their homeland.
During the 28th Heretic Advance, Dwarven Commonwealth forces breached the eastern Mjnfar lines and marched on Starik. The First Starik Brigade had retreated to the capital, but the War chamber gave clear orders: Mjnfar could not fall into enemy hands. Under Starikite Commander Hyrke, Tokken forces made a brave last stand for Starik - and succeeded. The First Brigade's efforts in the battle were legendary.
Being a front-line unit, the First Brigade was barely involved in political changes. During the Lesonic Heresy, Starik supported Lesonicus, but the war against the Dwarves continued unabated. Likewise, the Zannyr Perfidy was barely felt; the Brigade was occupied fighting.
In 416 OW, the Dwarven forces once again advanced on Starik from both land and sea. However, this time, the Emperor was not able to raise troops from across Tokken to support the city, and the attacking numbers were beyond count. The brigade fell in the flames of its city.
Regimental Identity
The regiment's hymn, Starik Shall Not Fall, was inspired by the battle for Starik.
As the heretics overrun, the land of the One
They don’t belong, we stand our ground, ten thousand strong
Standing in trench and wharf, face the army of the Dwarf
Ten thousand strong, this is our land, they don’t belong
Hear Commander Hyrke’s, and the Chamber’s orders
Defend the holy-land, Starik shall not fall
Stand and follow command, our blood for the homeland
Heed the Emperor’s call, and brace for the storm
Starik will never give in, there is no surrender
Force them into retreat, and into defeat
Face the forces of their wands, as the Emperor commands
We the brave, who stand against the foul wave
From the mountains and the seas, our holy-land from us seize
Day and night, they’re coming in, we'll take the fight
From Starik to Vodric
Call of the Emperor, Tokken shall prevail
Stand and follow command, our blood for the homeland
Heed the Emperor’s call, and brace for the storm
Starik will never give in, there is no surrender
Force them into retreat, and into defeat
Forces beyond count, from the wastelands beyond
The lives of our people spill, they bring only ill
Starik will never give in, there is no surrender
Force them into retreat, and into defeat
Call of the Emperor, they will go no further
Defend the holy-land, Starik shall not fall
