Brimstone's Fold, a small group of soldiers' heroic defeat of a huge orcish host, was a legendary tale in the Ochebana Empire.

Events

The conservatist General Brimstone and his troops, the Northern Legion, were deployed in Orksed base, by the Cloud Peaks, from where they hoped to march north and secure the republic's northern border. But a huge orcish host, estimated at 500'000 warriors, had already crossed the Everriver and penetrated southwards. So Brimstone made his Folding Call, talking to the various disorganized units in and around Orksed and asking them to join his maneuver.

Three orcish hosts - nearly 400'000 warriors - had united to overrun the humans in a great push to Longhorn Bay and on southwards. 90'000 soldiers under Brimstone's command had dug in along the western coast, and when the orcish wave approached, those men hit the front-runners as hard and quickly as possible. The host's tip veered eastwards to flee from this unexpected assault and the rest followed. The remainder of Orksed and Snakefort's soldiers used the mobility of their horses and the camouflage of the Snakewood's trees that seemed to multiply their numbers to the greatest effect possible, coaxing the hordes on eastwards for 15 days. When the herded orcs approached the Troll mountain's foothills, the exhausted soldiers once more launched their entire effort at the horde's rear and sides, pushing them onward in a final lurch that brought the horde into Rownor territory^[1].

Popular Response

Brimstone's reputation grew immensely after his successful maneuver. Most of the remaining imperial army celebrated him and swore themselves to him. He established a military governorate in the north, whose people also supported him. His fame across the empire quickly grew and he took power the same year.

Long after Brimstone's rule, the legendary events of Brimstone's Fold remained an important tale in Ochebanian folklore, and one of the greatest feats of the imperial military.
