The Promised BrethrenLore - Relation Canon

The Promised Brethren were a mythical group of people closely associated with celestials and sometimes seen as deities.

A Promise

Before their rise in power, the Brethren were a simple group of mortals, primarily elves and gaians. In several mythical deeds, they managed to become so powerful and wise that they were virtually indistinguishable from true celestials in all aspects.

Because of their immortality, the Brethren decided to retreat to rather hard-to-reach places; their primary residence was Simidatu Temple, on the plane of Tirangaie.

The Question of Immortality

In general, it was very difficult, if not impossible, for mortals to achieve true immortality, and this quest led many down unsavory paths; this issue was known as the Temptation of Mortals. Because the Brethren did not want to serve as an example for a successful ascension, they decided to be known as demigods rather than true celestials; in this way, their position was considered unattainable by mortals.
