Associated Values

Ancestry

Draconic, celestial

Ishnarr the Shining One, called in Draconic Aragh'assinasathgh'ishnarrishnegh', was a powerful draconic entity residing in Celestia.

Appearance

The deity, when soaring above the peaks of Celestia, was said to appear as a huge dragon, with brilliant white or silver scales, shedding streaks of golden light, and with brilliant brass fangs; he seemed to be made up of all kinds of different, lustruous metals.

Ishnarr's Handmaidens

Though he could barely tolerate the presence of others in his territory on Celestia, Ishnarr was not unwilling to have a large number of powerful, devoted servants serving his interests. Despite his contemptuous presentation, he enjoyed power, both in the form of servants and in the form of ancient, proud, mortal dragons accepting to bow their heads to him. Thus he made copious use of the Angel's Gift, a ritual which fit very well with his conception of other beings, and produced a vast court of 222 angels bound to him in eternal servitude, his famous 222 handmaidens. He used these angels as his primary avatars, attending him in his realm and serving as his representatives when he couldn't be bothered to meet a visitor, and operating throughout the multiverse to represent him, enrich his wealth, and fulfill his part of the Arighngh'ergh' deal with his followers.

Philosophy

Ishnarr was the embodiment of the Arishngh'ergh', and was its reputed father. He had awesome power, and was the deity of some of the most powerful mortal individuals to exist, but he cared little for "usual" deity-follower relationships, and even chose to outright ignore the Cosmic Dictation, haughtily failing to appear and participate when it was made. In a mockery of common religions and gifts of faith, Ishnarr made informal deals with his draconic subjects, caring little for the minor gains in power he would otherwise receive and flaunting everything related to a god's power and role with utter contempt.

Ishnarr cared only for himself, living in his expansive domain on the rocky slopes and the crystalline rivers of Celestia and tolerating assistants only so far as they served him. He encouraged his followers to do likewise, because they - as true dragons - deserved to do as they pleased and be served by all other creatures.

Patron Deity

Ishnarr was the patron god of those dragons who called themselves "Proud Ones", who followed Arishngh'ergh' and respected Ishnarr as the legitimate, most powerful dragon among dragons. These were mostly ancient and very powerful metallic dragons in their own right; an elite society of mostly gold and silver dragons on Dragonia famously heeded Ishnarr's precepts. Many other creatures venerated him, most notably lesser kinds of draconoids and mortals who respected his awesome power, which exceeded that of many other gods. However, he outright ignored such prayers, and cared not at all for them; Proud Ones would laugh contemptuously whenever they saw a being attempt to pray to Ishnarr.
