The Crystal PrismLore - Item Canon
The crystal prism, sometimes called crystal gem, was a magical artifact with a very strong connection to the Weave, serving as a powerful Connection focus.
Usage
The gem could help focus magical connections; this means it could allow teleportation of much greater girth than spellcasters could handle, even from Outer Planes into Oshmondu. Alternatively, it could be used by very capable spellcasters to improve their ability to draw power from the Weave, granting them much greater abilities.
History
The Crystal Prism, originally fabricated by celestials during the Celestial Wars, went lost during battles in the Intralu region. Millennia later, frost giants of the Ostorian Empire excavated the focus in a great excavation of Vaasa. Their leader, Eygrelos, used the gem's focusing power to build up two great twin fortresses and one citadel in the Tharmounts. The power of the gem was quite scary to the life-venerating giants, and when Eygrelos died from overusing the gem to complete the citadel, it was decided to inoculate both him and the gem in Dauder Tomb. Knowledge of the gem was suffocated.
Around 1'500 b. OW, the white dragon Zaragora attempted extracting the gem from Dauder Tomb to discover a merging of draconic and giant's golem magic. She almost got there, but eventually the remainder of the frost giants in Kalder Ein expulsed her from the tomb. The gem remained there.
In 1'347, when the giants were far weaker than before, she returned to the tomb. She managed to occupy it and use the gem to create hosts of "Zaragoran Spawn" out of both draconic and golem magic. Her siege was eventually interrupted by the incursion of an adventurer party, when the gem was shifted by her lackeys to Snowspire fortress.
Eventually, it was captured, and came into the ownership of the White Flame wizard, who tried to use it to accomplish his perfect powers. He was defeated by an adventuring party, however, and the gem was destroyed in the process.
